Thinking about buying a classic? Our detailed inspection uncovers hidden rust, mismatched numbers, and mechanical issues before you sign — saving you thousands.
Iron & Chrome Restorations was founded in 1987 by master mechanic Ray Caldwell in a two-bay garage with one lift and an obsession for getting things right. What started as a side project restoring his father's '69 Camaro became a lifelong mission to preserve America's automotive heritage.
Today, our 12,000 sq. ft. facility houses a team of eight specialists — each an expert in their discipline — with a shared commitment to craftsmanship that simply can't be rushed. We've restored over 500 vehicles and earned recognition at Pebble Beach, the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, and the Detroit Autorama.
Transparent from day one. You'll know exactly where your car stands at every stage of the build.
We discuss your vision, inspect the vehicle, and provide a detailed estimate with a realistic timeline and full cost breakdown.
Every part is catalogued, photographed, and evaluated. We identify hidden problems early so there are no surprises down the road.
Metalwork, paint, engine, interior, electrical — our specialists handle each system. You receive regular photo updates and progress reports.
Final quality inspection, road testing, and detailing. We hand you the keys to a car that looks and drives better than the day it left the factory.
"I brought them a rust bucket and they gave me back a time machine. The attention to detail on my '67 Mustang is absolutely insane — every bolt, every clip, every stitch is perfect. Worth every penny."
"Other shops gave me the runaround for months. Iron & Chrome laid out a clear plan, stuck to their timeline, and sent me photos every week. My Bel Air won Best in Class at its first show."
"Ray and his team rebuilt the 396 in my Chevelle to factory specs and it runs like a Swiss watch. These guys are the real deal — old-school craftsmanship with modern quality standards."
